Grounded in Tradition. Building in Faith.

First United Methodist Church Little School was founded in 1971 by a small group of parents concerned about quality care of their preschool-aged children. Much has changed in the past forty-six years but the talent and dedication of the Little School staff has been a constant. Little School is a ministry of First United Methodist Church of Covington and is governed by the Church Council.

The goal at Little School is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, so-cial, emotional, spiritual and cognitive development of young children while responding to the needs of families. All programs are open to all children, regardless of race, nationality or creed. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, national origin, handicapping conditions or ancestry.

Purpose

First United Methodist Church Little School endeavors to:

  • Provide a stress-free environment that supports initiative, creativity, autonomy, and self esteem.
  • Help children grow in faith by demonstrating God’s love and acceptance.
  • Provide activities based on current child development theory.
  • Provide opportunities for children to learn about fairness, independence, cooperation, trust, self-control, empathy, sharing and kindness.
  • Allow children to explore and be actively involved in their world while pursuing their own interests and creativity.

Our Teachers & Staff

We believe that the most important asset of our school is the quality of our teachers. All staff members are experienced in working with young children and participate in a continuous program of in-service workshopsand training sessions. All teachers go through classes to be CPR and First Aid certified.
